Mountain State Politics (MSP) provides an in-depth look at the political climate of one of the nation’s most interesting, yet often forgotten, states. West Virginia’s political history is one of the most diverse and compelling in the country, and today’s political activity in the state that has succumbed to rampant unemployment, a debilitating drug epidemic, and a long record of corruption, makes it a fascinating case study. The objective of MSP is to help explain the political geography, conflict, and news surrounding state and local politics in West Virginia. MSP seeks to inform those both within and outside of the state, and to shed light on the movement and directionality of West Virginia politics.
